PMO Strategies Empowers the Professional Association’s CEO with a Second Transformational Strategy Delivery Office

A renowned professional organization in the field of Urban Planning, embarked on a transformative journey to formalize its strategic value delivery. This challenge was led by a CEO who had previously experienced remarkable success working with PMO Strategies in a different organization.

Recognizing the need to elevate the organization’s project management capabilities and establish a Strategy Delivery Office (SDO), the CEO turned to PMO Strategies once again to replicate their prior achievements and drive the organization towards its strategic goals.

The Challenge

The organization’s CEO recognized the necessity of formalizing project management processes to support the organization’s growth. The absence of project management capability and a PMO hindered the organization’s ability to effectively manage projects and strategic initiatives.

The challenge was to build a project management culture suitable for the organization’s needs, align sponsors with project teams, and enhance project portfolio 

The Solution

PMO Strategies embarked on a comprehensive approach to establish a Strategy Delivery Office for the organization. The process began with understanding the organization’s culture, specific needs, and desired outcomes. Training and coaching sessions were conducted to build project management capabilities and educate project managers and staff on the role of projects in achieving organizational goals.

Simultaneously, the SDO leader participated in the IMPACT Engine System program and engaged with global project management peers. This collaborative journey spanned 12 months, with a focus on equipping the team with skills, tools, and services to deliver on the organization’s strategy.

The Strategy Delivery Office provided the leadership team with valuable insights into strategic initiatives, enabling clear direction and prioritization. The implementation of project management practices improved communication and collaboration across teams, facilitating a shared understanding of progress.
