PMO Strategies is a strategy delivery education and consulting organization founded by Laura Barnard in 2012. Yes. PMO Strategies is an official PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP). This designation means our programs meet PMI’s rigorous standards for quality and professional development. Every eligible program you complete with us earns officially recognized PDUs toward your PMP and other PMI certifications.


What this means for you: PDUs earned through PMO Strategies are automatically eligible for submission to PMI — no extra paperwork or approval required.

PM4Change is our social impact initiative that connects skilled project management volunteers with nonprofits and community organizations that need delivery leadership — at no cost to the organizations being served. We believe PM skills are powerful tools for creating community good, not just professional advancement.


Volunteers earn PDUs through their service, gain cross-sector experience, and become part of a purpose-driven community within the larger PMO Strategies ecosystem.

IMPACT Engine System™

The IMPACT Engine System™ is a six-stage strategy delivery framework developed by Laura Barnard. It’s designed to help organizations build the capability to consistently translate strategy into measurable business results — closing the gap between what an organization plans to do and what it actually delivers.


The six stages are: Mindset → Assess → Define → Plan → Deliver → Evolve. Each stage builds on the last, creating a complete operating system for strategy delivery.


Important distinction: The IMPACT Engine System™ is not a project management methodology. It’s a strategy delivery operating system — it works alongside whatever project management approach your organization already uses.

Mindset — Adopt an outcome-focused mindset. This prerequisite shift from task execution to strategic value creation is what makes everything else possible.


Assess — Evaluate your current strategy delivery capability. Identify the specific gaps preventing measurable IMPACT.


Define — Clarify strategic priorities, governance structures, and the decision-making authority needed to align work with outcomes.


Plan — Build realistic delivery plans that connect every initiative directly to strategic priorities and measurable goals.


Deliver — Execute initiatives while maintaining strategic alignment — ensuring teams stay focused on outcomes, not just outputs.


Evolve — Continuously improve how your organization delivers strategy, building a sustainable, high-IMPACT delivery capability over time.

Most PMO frameworks focus on process maturity — how consistently projects follow a defined methodology. The IMPACT Engine System™ focuses on business outcomes: are the right initiatives being prioritized, are they being executed well, and are they actually delivering the strategic results the organization needs?

Results vary based on the starting point and the commitment of leadership, but most organizations begin seeing meaningful shifts — improved executive conversations, clearer portfolio prioritization, stronger governance structures — within 60–90 days of applying The IMPACT Engine framework.

The IMPACT Engine System™ is our most comprehensive program — a complete, end-to-end training experience in applying The IMPACT Engine framework to your organization. It covers all six stages in depth, includes practical tools and templates, and is designed to be implemented in your real work environment as you go.

The program includes 40+ PDUs, access to three certification pathways, and lifetime access to all course materials.

Who it’s for: PMO leaders, transformation leaders, and senior project professionals responsible for strategy delivery outcomes at the organizational level.

Self-paced programs let you learn on your own schedule. You get full access to all materials immediately and work through them at the pace that fits your life and work commitments.

Cohort programs (like the Mastermind groups) run on a defined schedule with a group of peers. You move through content together, participate in live sessions, and benefit from shared accountability and real-time peer coaching. For leaders who want faster implementation and peer support, cohort formats typically produce stronger results.

Masterminds are small-group coaching and accountability programs. There are two tracks:

Leadership Momentum Mastermind — For rising project managers and emerging PMO leaders making the shift from task execution to strategic leadership.

Leadership Mastery Mastermind — For experienced PMO directors and transformation leaders driving enterprise-level change, with an advanced focus on executive leadership and strategic IMPACT at scale.

Both programs include monthly coaching calls, peer accountability partnerships, implementation support, and hot seat sessions where one member brings a real challenge to the group for focused problem-solving.

It depends on the program. Entry-level programs like the IMPACT Driver Workshop are designed for project professionals with limited PM experience. Programs like The IMPACT Engine System™ and Leadership Mastery Mastermind are designed for experienced leaders already in PMO or transformation roles.

The IMPACT Engine System™ flagship program includes lifetime access to all course materials — so you can revisit, reference, and re-apply the content as your organization grows and evolves. Access terms for other programs vary and are specified on each program page.

Yes. Our PMP® Comprehensive Training program prepares you to pass the PMP exam while also developing the real-world project leadership skills that will serve you long after exam day. As a PMI Authorized Training Partner, all contact hours from this program count toward your PMP application requirements.

What sets our PMP training apart: We don’t teach to the exam in isolation. Our program builds real strategy delivery leadership skills — so you pass the PMP and become a better leader at the same time.

The IMPACT Driver Workshop is a focused program designed to help project managers make the critical mindset and skills shift from task execution to strategic leadership. It’s built around the first stage of The IMPACT Engine — Mindset — and gives participants the tools, language, and confidence to begin operating as a strategic contributor rather than just a project executor.

It’s one of the best starting points for project professionals who are ready to grow beyond project management and into organizational leadership.

CERTIFICATIONS & PDUS

PMO Strategies offers four IMPACT Engine certifications: IMPACT Engine Practitioner™, Certified IMPACT Engine Leader™, Certified IMPACT Engine Consultant™, and Certified IMPACT Driver™.

Each certification validates a specific level of knowledge and application of The IMPACT Engine System™. Certifications are earned through completion of the associated program and demonstration of applied competency.

PDU totals vary by program. The IMPACT Engine System™ flagship program alone includes 40+ PDUs. The IMPACT Inner Circle membership provides ongoing monthly PDUs through live training sessions. PM4Change volunteer hours also qualify for PDUs.

As a PMI Authorized Training Partner, all PMO Strategies PDUs are fully recognized by PMI and eligible for submission toward PMP renewal and other PMI certification maintenance.

PMO Strategies certifications (Certified IMPACT Engine Practitioner™, etc.) are proprietary credentials issued by PMO Strategies — they are not PMI credentials. However, because PMO Strategies is a PMI Authorized Training Partner, the programs leading to these certifications do earn PMI-recognized PDUs.

Our certifications validate your IMPACT Engine expertise and are recognized within the strategy delivery and PMO community. The PDUs earned contribute to your PMI credential maintenance.

Certification maintenance details vary by credential. Information about renewal requirements and maintenance is provided as part of each certification program. The IMPACT Inner Circle membership is one of the most efficient ways to maintain certifications, since it provides ongoing learning and PDUs on a monthly basis.

For most leaders, the best starting point is The IMPACT Engine System™ flagship program — it’s the foundation for all IMPACT Engine certifications and provides the most complete introduction to the framework.

If you’re newer to PMO or strategy delivery, consider starting with the IMPACT Engine Fundamentals one-day workshop, then moving into the full System™ program when you’re ready.

Quickest path to certification: IMPACT Engine System™ → IMPACT Engine Practitioner™ certification. You can complete both in a single program enrollment.

Yes. PM4Change volunteer hours qualify for PDUs under PMI’s “Giving Back to the Profession” category. This means you can earn PDUs while making a genuine social impact — not just through formal coursework. The exact number of PDUs depends on the nature and duration of the volunteer engagement.

COMMUNITY & INNER CIRCLE

The free PMO Strategies community is open to anyone. It gives you access to our public podcast episodes, free articles and resources, newsletter, and community conversations. It’s the best starting point for exploring PMO Strategies and connecting with other strategy delivery professionals.

The IMPACT Inner Circle is a paid membership that includes monthly PDU-eligible live training, Laura’s Ask Me Anything sessions, a private member resource library, just-in-time training drops, and a private member-only community space. It’s designed for leaders who want ongoing structured development, not just occasional access to free content.

Inner Circle membership is available on a monthly or annual basis. Annual membership offers a discounted rate compared to paying month-to-month. Current pricing is available on the Inner Circle membership page.

Membership can be cancelled at any time — there are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees.

If you cancel your Inner Circle membership, your access to member-exclusive content, the private community, live sessions, and the resource library will end at the conclusion of your current billing period. You will retain access to the free community and any program content you purchased separately.

Every enterprise engagement begins with a discovery conversation to understand your organization’s strategic goals, current delivery capability, and the specific gaps you’re trying to close. From there, we design a custom program scope and delivery approach — which may include live virtual workshops, cohort-based training, coaching, and ongoing implementation support.

Programs can be delivered for teams of any size, from a single PMO team to an enterprise-wide rollout across hundreds of leaders.

 

Absolutely. Many organizations use PMO Strategies programs — particularly the IMPACT Engine System™ and IMPACT Engine Fundamentals — as part of their onboarding curriculum for new PMO hires. The programs establish a shared framework and language across the team from day one, which accelerates integration and alignment.

 

Yes. PMO Strategies offers consulting services that go beyond training — working directly alongside your team to assess current state, design strategy delivery systems, and support implementation of the IMPACT Engine framework.
